THE IMPRINT OF ALL THINGS – BEING ANOTHER, STRANGE ADVENTURE OF LINNEA AND LING
The artistic fiction presented here is the result of the collaboration of two women, artist Béatrice MEUNIER-DÉRY (who played the main role in this work) and landscape architect Xiaoling FANG, within the framework of the 9th Biennial « The Science of Art » in 2021. For 23 years, Béatrice Meunier-Déry has been pursuing an immobile and narrative journey that entangles the scientific and poetic body. Through narrative, the matrix element of her practice, she explores questions of intimacy, the cyclical transformations of the living, its healing and renewal processes. She thus devotes a vast period to the production of testimonial works, often made of textile, which tell of vulnerable destinies, in a long and experiential process of fabrication, pertaining to the votive gesture. This mechanism grants a performative dimension to the act of creation, in what it contains of expiatory and saving, supposed to palliate the impotence of the artist to act on the real. In these objects with protective vocation, the life always prevails; it is embodied in an objectified aesthetic, a work of the ornament and the ornament which there also, leaves a fundamental place to the time […] Without being reduced to simple objects of contemplation, these works proceed of an act of sublimation, change of state which exorcises the tests of the life… (Bio according to C. Ruggeri, 2021; Blog of the author). Xiaoling Fang is currently a researcher and teacher at the School of Architecture, and is attached to the research unit AMP ENSA-PLV / HESAM / MC. Her scientific interests focus on the development of designer’s creativity through experimentation, and on action research in the field of architecture, landscape and urbanism. Passionate about literature and art, she contributed to the construction of the fiction inspired by Beatrice’s artistic creation. The story revolves around two characters with very different visions of climate change, Linnea Kvarn, a Swedish eco-anxious bryologist of Sami origin, imagined by Beatrice, and Ling, a « moussien » leprechaun created by Xiaoling. Two shifted points of view put the anguish into perspective, and during the adventure, reflections in and on the action intermingle and manage to weave together science and art. The idea of living as one (one) other and crossing the worlds of two characters evokes the principle of the diversity of the environment, and underlines the fact that we live in connection with others. The article consists of two parts: a presentation of the context of the creation, followed by « Ling’s Diary » illustrated with drawings by Beatrice.
HPTD-M: A TRANSDISCIPLINARY INTEGRATION OF THREE PARADIGMS – MECHANISTIC, SYSTEMIC AND SYNCHRONISTIC
Leonardo da Silva Guimarães Martins da COSTA is currently a Brazilian federal public servant – career of auditor of finance and control (2009: Brazilian Treasure), with an executive MBA in corporate management (2002: FGV 26th), a post-graduate degree in engineering economics (1996: FDC 48th), and a civil engineering degree with emphasis in sanitation (1992: UFMG). Since 2011, the author has been researching applied transdisciplinarity in connection to physics, economics, law, psychology, and politics. His own framework is in a book and a monograph in Portuguese, besides four published articles in English from Nov/2021 to Apr/2022. The latter resume the Holopraxis Transdisciplinary Management theory (HPTD-M) in the ATLAS Transdisciplinary Journal of Engineering and Science. The structure of the HPTD-M has been influenced by the holistic transdisciplinarity of UNIPAZ in Brazil, and by the author’s background as engineer, business manager, public servant and public manager. Context of his approach: In connection to the Jungian theory of synchronicity, some scientists like Albert Einstein, Niels Bohr, and the 1987 co-founders of the International University of Peace in Brazil – UNIPAZ (Pierre Weil and Roberto Crema) have discussed the Western rationalist view and the necessity of considering open systems of knowledge. This idea can be shown in different converging concepts, like duality (physics), dialectics (philosophy), and trade-offs (economics). Troubleshooting is usually seen in the Modern Western way of rationality in the broad sense (hard skills: rational and empirical types of intelligence), but not through meaning in the broad sense (soft skills: the emotional and intuitive types of intelligence) as seen through the traditional Eastern way. Also, Mcgregor´s 2020 concept of transpraxis has a remarkable connection to holopraxis in our HPTD-M, the convergence is clear. This paper’s purpose is to continue developing our HPTD-M theory (Holopraxis Transdisciplinary Management) through the dialogic process of four paradigms: mechanism, systems, synchronicity, and the transdisciplinary view of HPTD-M itself, in the context of the four archetypal elements and the Greek concepts of SOMA, PSYCHE, and NOÛS. The author concludes that he HPTD-M framework is simple, a result of a dialectics approach to human phenomena complexity. Hopefully, our theory can help in other fields of open knowledge, such as education, sciences, economics, law, administration, psychology, and politics, in order to transform the way those disciplines are understood by our modern Western culture.
Bernard TROUDE is a sociologist, researcher in neuropsychology and psychology. States of research in these functions in order to raise problems resulting from our current lives as well in general ethics as in medical ethics, resonances of a way of behaving. He has published several papers in PLASTIR. This one, in continuity with the last ones (Plastir n°59 & n°63) shows that it is a question of defining from which status the numbers one »1 » and two »2 » are definitely put in a form of »co-habitation ». The experience since the Greek philosophers and until our modern time proves that the reductions of any action are made in this duality to be solved. The result should not wait because the question of a concept is or can be questioned by the said communities about a way of living in continuity or in diversity of options to be established and finally to be understood. The analysis of this order of thought supposes that the contexts of the beginning will have led to disorders evaluated by a number of people subjected to the contingencies of this beginning; the order guaranteed by a majority of people that has appreciated a consent durably and that there, immediately, wants to inflict a radical change by the recommencement. Of this debate, there is no doubt, since the myth, having founded this challenge to pursue a collective idea, has been collected and evaluated in two versions, almost identical, one on the basis of what is known and the other resulting from an alliance of hybridization claiming the need to review the subject.
Mar THIERIOT is a French-Brazilian philosopher, poet and painter who has been a regular contributor to PLASTIR. Living in Quebec since 2008, she has approached the limits of consciousness and the unintentional as well as the emotions that run through us from a philosophical, educational and artistic point of view. In 2016, she published a book entitled « Les Mutations humaines« , with a preface by M-W Debono and the result of a work carried out at the University of Laval, some concepts of which were published in Plastir n°48/2017. We publish here the second chapter of this book centered on the art pegged to the body and the human relations which result from it. Illustrated by her original works and referring to Habermas, Steinberg, Michel Henry or Nicolescu, Mar Thieriot opens us to a dialogical and transdisciplinary approach of the world lived from the inside which makes us discover all the richness of human mutations as soon as they adopt an open path on otherness, transcultures, full consciousness and avoid the numerous socio-economic, political traps, linked to misinformation or to the non-respect of the fundamental rights of humanity. Establishing a neutral zone for the circulation of ideas and putting men and women – especially in the West – in a position to react and change positively is the ambition of the author’s proposal.
